Overview
The actual tea was lovely- but the getting there was the problem.
Transport & Parking
My carer drove me and we parked in the car park
Access
No signage. After asking were taken on a very long journey- being dragged backwards out of the car park over stones. (The access roads are alll tarmac- why can’t the car park be tarmac too). My carer had to push me all the way. Down a long steep hill (had to wait while trying to get 2 works vans to move) Having got to the bottom of the hill (this was all outside the castle ramparts) we then turned onto a very narrow (2 paving slabs wide) up a very very steep hill. Halfway up there were bushes which were blocking the path (had to be pushed through them - if it had been wet I would have been completely soaked) (Having finally got there my tiny carer said it had killed her and she’d have to go and lie down.) The actual tea with friends was nice but I don’t think I’d go back again as it was such a performance just getting there. The owners of Dalhousie castle should sit in a manual wheelchair and try it themselves. If I hadn’t had someone to push me there’s no way I would have got in. How about an outside lift down those steep stone steps at the entrance to the conservatory? That would be a HUGE improvement!
Toilets
Didn’t go. I was too exhausted with getting to the venue
