Overview
My sisters and I went for a trip down memory lane on the anniversary our fathers passing. From a very young age Culzean has been a very important central part of our lives. Over the years the National Trust have improved and upgraded the paths. In the past I thought the improvements took away from the wild magic of the place but now as a wheelchair user I am grateful for the ability to still visit and enjoy. There are disabled toilets at each of the main buildings, they are basic but clean. All areas are accessible even the upper floors of the main castle have an original lift installed for Eisenhower. I felt privileged using it. The paths in winter can be a bit mucky but still usable with care.
Transport & Parking
We drove but there is a local regular bus service. Also the train runs from Glasgow central to Maybole where you can then get a taxi or bus
Access
Access is excellent for a historic building. There is a lift within the castle to take you to all floors. All other building are ground level access. There is signs all around the park
Toilets
There are toilets at all the main buildings. They are basic but well maintained and clean. There are alarm call cords for emergency use
Staff
Staff are very friendly and extremely helpful
