Overview
Culzean Castle was a lovely family day out with lots of walks and a nice coffee and I was very surprised to be able to access both floors of the castle through a very small lift
Transport & Parking
There were a lot of accessible parking spaces across from the Cafe . I’m beside the main toilet blocks
Access
Disabled access is generally good, although the café is quite cramped when busy there are lots of nice accessible walks around the castle. The two accessible toilets are quite cramped. Although the one at the entrance to the castle has more space left inside. The castle is very old-fashioned and small and some wheelchair users may struggle to access it.
Toilets
There are two standard accessible toilets, which are both quite cramped. However, the one at the castle entrance is slightly bigger. It would really help if the National Trust would consider putting a changing places toilet in the castle courtyard where there is plenty of space This would open up the castle to a much bigger audience. It was also make for much more pleasant, day Out
Staff
Staff are all very pleasant, and helpful and told me lots of interesting information about the castle on my way round they are also very helpful with Access in the lift
Anything else you wish to tell us?
It would really help if the National Trust we consider putting in a changing places toilet within the courtyard of the castle where there is plenty of space. It would also be helpful in terms of accessibility if they would consider doing a video or audio guide of the upper floors in case anyone with a larger wheelchair was not able to access via the lift. Creating more space in the café between tables would also really help especially on busy days
