Overview
My husband has MS and uses a wheelchair full time. I did a lot of research into accommodation for him. He needs a profiling bed and riser recliner chair and I find it difficult to find everything he needs. Culmore Bridge Cottages seemed to have everything he needs so I booked a week’s visit for the beginning of July. We were taking his Sara Steady with us. Unfortunately, at the beginning of March, he took ill and was in hospital for 3 month, ending up with an above knee amputation. This meant that he is now reliant on a hoist. I telephoned and spoke to Jacqui, the owner of the accommodation, explaining the situation and she explained that they had hoists in the accommodation. There are 3 cottages on site, Rowan, Willow and Pine. We stayed in Rowan Cottage and it was lovely, totally wheelchair accessible, big rooms, great wet room, a lovely decked area looking on to the countryside. There is parking for 2 cars at each cottage. If you go to their website, culmorebridge.co.uk, there is a lot more information.
Transport & Parking
We have a wheelchair adapted car and there is space for 2 cars
Access
The front door has low level access and my husband managed without any problem getting in and out of the cottage. There is also a decked area at the back of the cottage and this has a ramp
Toilets
The is a fully fitted wet room with grab rails and drop down rail on both sides of the toilet.
Staff
We met Jacqui, the owner of the properties. She was very helpful and easy to get in touch with
