Overview
A very pleasant spacious restaurant serving what they call contemporary and locally sourced ingredients, and a bar named “1269” So named due to the historical connections with the small town of Beaconsfield when in 1269 the town was granted a charter to allow an annual livestock market to be held there. The menu is varied, not a lot of choice, but well prepared and presented, and staff in general are helpful and willing. We have recorded details of the drinks we personally tried, but unfortunately we found them to be disappointing, and offered low marks for the drinks. WINES Kleine Zalze Celler selection, from South Africa, a light bodied white wine. With a fresh elderflower and lemon aroma, Clear pale greenish hues in its appearance, with a taste that was dry, lemony, harsh, sour hints, and a light bodied wine. Its finish was mouth drying. MARKS “6” Short mile bay, from Australia, a medium bodied red wine. Fruity and plummy, but musty, deep, woody aroma. It was reasonably thick in appearance, burgundy colour. Its taste was of liquorice, with a hint of fruit, thin and of a medium body, it was hot, harsh with a mouth drying finish, a poor wine. MARKS “6” Antonio Rubini Pinot Grigio Rosato, from Italy. A red wine but More of a pale Ros’e look. Very faint aroma, but its appearance was good, sharp and clear, thin looking ros’e colour. Its taste was faint fruits with a light hint of something, harsh, dull and a very poor wine. Not recommended at all. MARKS “5” MOCKTAILS, non alcoholic. PEAR GINGER FIZZ. Pear juice, ginger beer, lime juices, ginger, hint of mint. Marks. “7”. Enjoyed this drink. PINA COLADA. Weak and watery, however a nice taste to it Marks. “6.5”. So so HONEY AND THYME DELIGHT. Honey, thyme, lemon juice, sugar free soda. Watery with a slight hint of honey. Marks. “5”. A poor watery mocktail. ================================================= BREAKFAST is served in the “1269” restaurant, as last three photos show. We did not take a breakfast, so cannot advice you.
