Overview

Very decadent and glamorous Victorian restaurant and pub that has been lovingly restored in North London. The Restaurant serves lunch, afternoon teas and dinner with adjoining pub/ bar room. Building has great disabled access.

Transport & Parking

The restaurant is in St John's Wood and located between several tube stations. The nearest tube is St John's Wood which has escalator access between street and platform. It's then a short bus ride and then a 5 - 10 minute walk. We picked up a taxi from Marylebone Station which took about 5 minutes and cost about £7. Alternatively as the disabled access is better at Paddington Station I would suggest getting taxi from there but it is a busier station. We got a taxi back to Marylebone when we finished and the restaurant kindly phoned for a taxi for us.

Access

There is very good access for people with mobility difficulties. There are 3 entrances to the restaurant/ pub. We entered from the corner door which had one shallow step and double doors. Once inside the pub and restaurant area is spacious and it was easy for both of us to walk with our walking sticks. The pub and the other 2 rooms which serve as the restaurant are all on the ground floor and inter connecting. The 2 restaurant rooms are extremely spacious. The tables and chairs are free standing so can be repositioned. We were given the menu but I forgot to ask if they had a large or braille print menu.

Toilets

There was a spacious disabled accessible toilet on the ground floor which was clean. There were grab rails and emergency cord. The emergency cord didn't touch the floor and I informed the staff who said they would fix it.

Staff

Staff were excellent throughout. They were friendly and helpful. Service was attentive but not intrusive. When we were ready to leave we asked the staff and they telephoned for a taxi for us and then kept a look out and informed us when our taxi arrived.

We went for afternoon tea which was pre-booked. It was £22.50 per person which is very good value in central London. The food was of a very good quality and delicious. The veggie sandwiches were imaginative and tasty and the pastries and scones were particularly delicious. The 2 restaurant rooms are very spacious and would accommodate a large group easily. The surrounding are very ornate with chandeliers, lots of marble and gilding, ornate ceilings, large fire places. The venue has the wow factor.
