Overview

We're a family of 4 plus pet dog including 2 teenage sons- one has Duchenne and is very physically limited... Stayed in Clunie cottage twice now and LOVE it as it is as easy as being at home. Equipment wise- tracking hoist, profiling bed, wheel-in shower, showerchair, closomat toilet and space to manoeuvre. Electric airflow mattress on request. The staff are friendly and helpful (I left my dressing gown and it was posted home to me), the cottage is clean and tidy and with 5 years between visits it hadn't grown 'tired' as places often do. Onsite eggs to buy, a playground and bbq, accessible wooden hut with activities and bikes to borrow. The fantastic communal summer room has a computer, seating, music, and a weekly coffee morning with a chance to meet fellow holidaymakers/ lovely staff visitors whilst enjoying their delicious home bakes :) Quiet location but a stone's throw/short wheel from Balmoral castle and grounds (tell them you're staying in Crathie, special reduced entry) and plenty of towns to drive to visit- or stay on site and relax in the garden/ by the river.

Transport & Parking

You can drive up to your cottage to load/unload then your car stays in the carpark a very short distance just round the corner. This keeps the courtyard area that the cottages open on to safer and quieter.

Access

Everything in Clunie cottage is level access for wheelchairs.

Toilets

Closomat toilet with tracking hoist if required.

Staff

Staff are all friendly and helpful.

Anything else you wish to tell us?

The only 'could have' for us (as is always the case, not found a facility with one yet) is a high-back shower/commode chair. We managed with the lower one by using his high back sling and the weight of his arm through the straps to keep our sons head upright and supported!
