Overview

This was the first time we had dared to go self catering since my husband became disabled four years ago - we needn't have worried! These cottages are perfect for wheelchair users. Low thresholds, plenty of room to move about, hoist in the bedroom and accessible bathroom sink and kitchen. We had all the facilities we needed, and more. Any extras you need can be borrowed free of charge. Maggie was super helpful and friendly and the Wednesday coffee morning was a good opportunity for a chat and catch up with her and others. Very thoughtful to provide a laundry room with washing machines, dryers, spare sheets / towels etc. should we have needed them, and a large freezer for the use of all four cottages. The garden room is a communal area which we discovered half way through our stay and it had lots of extra info and books, DVDs, etc etc.. We were lucky to have had beautiful weather and it was just so relaxing to sit outside Girnock cottage and chill out with the sound of the birds and the river Dee passing by. An added bonus was that our little dog could holiday with us and she loved the walks (and the rabbits!) We reluctantly left at the end of the week feeling refreshed and relaxed and have already booked a week for next year.

Access

The whole site is flat. My husband had a manual wheelchair and managed to get around easily. We were able to park outside the cottage to unload and then in the car park.
