Welcoming & helpful to me & my assistance dog!

Overview
I’m a regular visitor to Wallingford and I find that the Costa coffee there is the most disabled friendly coffee shop there is in the town. The others are too cluttered near the doorway and to get around if you have a wheelchair. I’m made very welcome & that friendly welcome extends to my medical alert dog too. Staff will take your tray over to your table without even having to ask. New manager in post now who’s also keen to hear from customers on improvements that could be made for disabled customers etc. which is always great news.
Transport & Parking
I use public transport, and the main bus stops are very close.
Access
There is a ramp in situ at the door. The menu is displayed higher up so people can see but staff were happy to read choices out for people- I witnessed this myself. There is seating for those unable to stand in a queue, plus staff carry orders over to your table if you are unable- without even having to ask!!
Toilets
It’s a large accessible toilet with grab rails and emergency cord exactly where it should be. It has lots of space to accommodate a career too, if needed. The toilet & area was clean and smelled very pleasant with an air freshener which wasn’t overwhelming. There is a baby changing area and sanitary bin if required too. Easy lock/ unlock door system too. Door handle & sink were the correct height for wheelchair users to access also.
Staff
I have a medical alert dog and many places don’t understand what he is and how he’s allowed access as my assistance dog. They obviously expect a Labrador or retriever; not a chihuahua! But he does exactly what he should and the staff are welcoming and helpful when he visits with me. Taking the time to explain to any customers who are unsure why he’s allowed in; it actually takes the pressure off of me always having to explain, which is nice. They supply water for him, as I always bring his own water bowl. He’s called by his name there when we arrive and he actually makes a ‘bee-line’ for the place as he feels it’s safe and comfortable for me. He’s always quick to let me know if he’s not happy somewhere!!
