Overview
We went to Copenhagen zoo during August and it made for an enjoyable day out. There were a wide variety of animals, split over two sites (connected by an under-road accessible tunnel) as well as an animatronic “Dino zoo”. Was fully accessible with a number of lifts and disabled toilets on offer. Some of the hills could present and issue to a wheelchair user without a companion, but the lifts provided remove a lot of these issues.
Transport & Parking
Public transport was via a bus service from the city centre. We chose to get a taxi from our hotel, which was inexpensive and easier to do. With the zoo being located on a main road into Copenhagen, it was easy and quick to hail a cab back into the city after out visit.
Access
For an accompanied wheelchair user, the site was very good. Lifts dealt with many of the hills in the zoo, and there were no issues with steps, as most of the site had step free alternatives.
Toilets
Accessible toilets were plentiful, modern and enough space for a wheelchair and cater.
Staff
Staff were great, and granted us a free companion entry on production of a DLA letter.
