Overview
Les Portes en Re, is the village at the far end of the island of Ile de Re. There is a market square and church. On the outskirts is a nature reserve. My review score reflects that I didn't visit the nature reserve so feel unable to comment about it, so giving it an average score.
Transport & Parking
The no 3 bus's final stop is Les Ports en Re, it's a small village. The bus is a coach style with wheelchair accessibility. When you get off the bus it is a 5 minute walk into the main part of the village.
Access
Opposite the bus stop is the tourist information centre which has a ramp/ step free access. The village centre is flat with a pedestrianised market square and the other street have little traffic. The open air market place with stalls is step free. The church was closed when I visited so unable to comment about its accessibility. The nature reserve was a 20 minute walk so I didn't visit it.
Toilets
There is an accessible toilet in toilet in the car park next to the bus stop and tourist information office. the toilet had 1 grab rail, no emergency alarm and the toilet seat was missing. However it was clean.
Staff
The lady at the tourist information office, spoke good English, and explained what there was to see and answered my questions about what was accessible.
Anything else you wish to tell us?
I took the bus to Les Ports en Re as I wanted to travel the entire length of the island. I didn't know what to expect when I arrived but I was pleasantly surprised. It's a very pretty village and the main shopping street and market square were busy and atmospheric. I wish I had been able to spend longer here.
