Overview

Largely accessible club in Hackney Wick with friendly helpful staff. There is a large upstairs area that is only accessible via a big flight of stairs and some of the handbuilt ramps are way too steep but were manageable independently with my manual wheelchair. They are clearly really trying to make it accessible, with lots of ramps over steps in the outside decking and a wheelchair-accessible toilet made by joining two stalls together. However the flooring throughout is very uneven, and to get into the main club space you need a staff member to open a door from the inside. But when I was there, there were staff standing there throughout ready to do this.

Transport & Parking

There are nearby bus stops that can take you from Stratford or dalston but the hackney wick overground isn't step-free. There are LOTS of cobbles, uneven ground and a lack of dropped curbs or tactile flooring on the streets around the venue.

Access

They had a removable ramp at the entrance to allow me, a wheelchair user, to enter the venue. the ground is very uneven and easy to trip on. The toilets are then on your right and the bar is outside, on your left. There isn't a lower counter. The outside decking had put ramps on each of the three small steps, but these might not be in place for every event. To get into the main club space, you have to go up a v steep little ramp and get someone to let you in from the other side. Inside the club space is all level access with a second inside bar. There is a second area upstairs which is only accessible via a big flight of stairs with a hand rail.

Toilets

Toilet was small, not much room to manoeuvre. The toilet is padlocked shut and you need staff to give you the code to unlock it, but this does mean other people aren't using it. It was pretty dirty, but I feel like that is standard for club toilets!
