Overview
Fabulous find, was given a gift voucher for afternoon tea, so glad I used it. Plenty parking, accessible loo, all on the level, roomy, and amazing staff and food, what wasn’t to like? Almost perfect , but accessible loo could do with a couple minor improvements. The lady serving us ( think she was the owner) made our visit very special, apart from being very attentive ( and serving our amazing afternoon tea) she went out of her way to make my visit a comfortable one, sitting us at a table with plenty of room for the chair, assisting with doors, checking I’d got out of the loo ok, and accompanying us in and out of the premises. Definitely looking forward to my next visit, have been raving about it to everyone who’ll listen!
Transport & Parking
We travelled by car, it is quite remote ( an old farm/ creamery as the name suggests). Plenty of parking right at the door, and more up the side of the building. The parking up the side is on a slope which had slight implications for the wheelchair, I would have struggled to self propel my chair
Access
Access is via a small ramp or slight step about 4 inches. Parking is right at the door, so within easy distance for those with mobility restrictions, and takes you via a small porch straight into the restaurant. Large but roomy, but again no great distance for those with mobility problems Signage good Slight problem entering with wheelchair, as a small porch with 2 doors, I had to reverse back out, to let my brother open the second door, but the lady came to assist Toilets not too far to access from restaurant
Toilets
Accessible loo easy to find, clean and fresh, lovely decor Plenty of room to manoeuvre wheelchair and turn full circle Plenty of room for a carer One drop down rail to left of toilet, I found this difficult as I need to push up with both hands to get off toilet, perhaps repositioning the adjustable rail to the right hand side of the toilet and a grab rail on the left hand wall, would provide more assistance for wheelchair users I had to move a bin & toilet brush to get to sink, but that was a minor issue. However I had to use my wet hands to turn my chair to dry my hands on the towel which was hanging on the door behind me, the towel hook could do with being a couple of inches lower for wheelchair users to use.
Staff
Staff amazing, faultless The lady who served us ? the owner is an amazing host Kind , welcoming and efficient. Gave the personal touch and made us feel special
Anything else you wish to tell us?
You need to book the afternoon tea at least the day before, if you explain your physical needs, eg. A table near the door, room for wheelchair etc, they will take this into consideration when reserving your table. If there are 2 of you I would recommend ordering one sweet and one savoury afternoon tea for a fabulous experience Would highly recommend to other people, a 5 star afternoon tea🍰☕️🧁🥧🍩
