Overview
Great spot for a picnic and to enjoy the sea air. A good number of disabled parking spaces and an accessible beach platform. Beach cafe and accessible loo although we didn’t check it out as it was closed. Lifeguard on duty. Only an hour from Edinburgh so well worth checking out.
Transport & Parking
Impressed with the parking set up. You come first to the main car park where there are 3 blue badge spots. If you carry on down the steeper tarmac path it is signposted for emergency and blue badge traffic only. There are two spots at the bottom here right next to wooden platform. Even if these are full it’s still worth checking as you can use the area to drop off disabled passengers.
Access
Two great wheelchair accessible ‘decks’ with a great beach view so you can see what’s going on! You get to them from the accessible parking spots at the beach. If you or some of your party are feeling more active then there is a great coastal walk to St Abbs but there are steep steps at the start and the end and although the majority of this is tarmac’d it is fairly narrow. There is a beach cafe but we didn’t check if it’s was accessible or not.
Toilets
There’s a dedicated accessible loo with a radar lock - but we didn’t check it out and presumed it was closed due to Covid.
Staff
There’s a RNLI hut plus there were two lifeguards on the beach. Whilst we didn’t need any help they looked smiley and happy to chat to beach goers.
Anything else you wish to tell us?
Covid signage on the approach and at the beach. When we went it was easy to social distance and space to spread out - it might be different if it was busier.
