Overview

I visited this cafe for the first time today on Disabled Access Day and it was a fantastic experience; it was very accessible, very welcoming and it had a lovely atmosphere! The staff were really friendly and offered to help although we didn't need any assistance as the access was so good. The coffee and pastries were also really good as was the orange juice which was very zesty and zingy!

Transport & Parking

This venue is in the centre of town and there is on-street parking very close by which was free at the time I visited, however, it was a shockingly wet day and it might not be available in better weather being right in the town centre. There are also a few car parks fairly nearby at Eastgate Centre and The Bus station for example. Again, being in the town centre, it's a few minutes away from the train station and the bus station so it's quite easy to get to.

Access

There is a wide manual door but it is not too heavy and the staff are on hand to offer assistance, after that there is a very manageable ramp, not too steep and nice and wide. There was lots of space between all the tables and staff were happy to move anything if needed; it was also lovely being able to sit at a table and be able to have an unobscured view out into the street allowing me to people-watch while also being able to face my P.A. for conversation. The accoustics were also good for me as I wear a ventilation mask making it hard for people to hear me sometimes in places with background noise but the background music here wasn't a problem for me at all.

Toilets

This toilet was clean, accessible and spacious. It had a red cord within easy reach and grab bars. The door was wide and manageable and there was plenty of space to manoeuvre inside; I know that sometimes when the accessible toilet is shared with the changing area it can be pretty messy with overflowing bins of nappies etc. but this was not the case here and it was really good.

Staff

The staff were friendly and helpful and offered assistance the minute we arrived. They could not have done any more and they were very obliging regarding everything we asked for/about including this review.
