Overview
This is not close to any major cities, and the closest town is only accessible by car with a fifteen minute drive. There are open grounds, however, there are cobbles stones over some of the grounds.
Transport & Parking
There are no specific spaces designated for disabled parking, however, there is a large car park, and spaces are generally bigger than standard. There is also the option to park outside of a specific parking space if it was needed.
Access
There is a ramp to one entrance, and the doors open wide. However, these are not automatic doors and are relatively heavy, so a person in a wheelchair would be dependent on a secondary person to gain access. There are rails on the staircases, however, not at either entrances to the building. There are no lifts, but there are a few rooms downstairs which are prioritised for those with a disability. However, these rooms are small. Throughout the house, the corridors are wide and stone floors, so easier access.
Toilets
One of the toilets has an open plan, so is easily accessible. However, the cubicles are small. There is one disabled toilet which is usable for someone in a wheelchair. However, for a child with a complex disability, there is no space for a carer or two to toilet or wash the child.
Staff
The manager is extremely accommodating, and understands that the facilities need changing, and is in the process of planning new disabled rooms and bathrooms. The general staff are also very accommodating and will move tables in the dining room if necessary. The chef will also create meal plans based around any dietary needs.
Anything else you wish to tell us?
It is a beautiful area, and is a very good retreat with positive affects on mental health.
