Overview
England's smallest city, so definitely manageable in a wheelchair. Beautiful old cathedral and associated Bishop's Palace and gardens
Transport & Parking
Parking in Wells is limited - we used large public car park near the town centre - all disabled spaces were taken at the time of our visit but this was not a problem
Access
The entrances to the cathedral and the palace are all level/ramped. There is a lift in the palace to access the first floor. The gardens are 95% accessible in a wheelchair
Toilets
There is an excellent disabled loo in the cathedral cloisters
Staff
Staff encountered were all helpful and explained disabled facilities where necessary
Anything else you wish to tell us?
This is a lovely place to visit because there is a lot to see in quite a small area. We were lucky enough to hear a choir practice in the cathedral, and the palace gardens are lovely. PS - the film Hot Fuzz was shot mainly in Wells - it's not at all like the film!
