Great place for wheelchair user
Visit date:
This review is especially helpful for those who have or use the following: Walking Aid, Wheelchair, Powerchair
Overview
Despite being a historic city, Bath is a great place for wheelchair users. Shops and restaurants are generally accessible, and the Roman Baths are fantastic.
Transport & Parking
Driving around Bath is generally difficult. We were lucky on our visit to find disabled parking spaces near places we wanted to visit. There are a number of larger car parks with disabled spaces
Access
There are pedestrianised streets with good level surfaces and access ramps. Some shops have steps at their entrances. One that we visited had a ramp which was quickly erected for us
Toilets
I used accessible loos at various places in the town - all were adequate
Staff
People around the town - in shops and restaurants - were exceptionally helpful. It seems that the good folk of Bath make an effort to welcome disabled visitors
Anything else you wish to tell us?
I would definitely recommend Bath as a destination for disabled travellers. We visited the Roman Baths, the Museum of Costume/Assembly Rooms and Bath Abbey as well as going round the Georgian streets
