Overview
The new cruise port, marina and shops makes getting into town under you own steam manageable
Transport & Parking
If arriving by cruise ship there are shuttles and taxis into town. Shuttle buses drop you half a mile out of town. Taxis get you closer. Walkable or wheel able if you can manage one and a half miles. Smooth path all the way but to get through dock gates you will need to go in the road, no dropped kerb (kribbie if you are from Dundee. )
Access
A lot of money has been spent on the port and marina. All paths are smooth. Ramps to shops are to the side of each block of shops. When you get to the town it is well paved. Access to shops and bars is variable. Supermarket (hyper Dino) entrance is at furthest corner from sea front. Lifts to all floors.
Toilets
If you find one it should be adequate but basic. Most I have visited have had good circulation and side transfer space. Rails either side of loo but they don't do red cords. If you can travel over rough cobbles there is the loo with the best view in Europe by the castle by the sea.
Staff
Any help I have asked for has been given but not many English speaking staff. I challenge you to ask for the toilet in sign language. I was offered an egg sandwich!!
Anything else you wish to tell us?
If you go into Arecife by shuttle you will miss the shops and bars at the marina. Either way you run the gauntlet of itinerant sellers. Walk on past the castle and about a mile on is an artificial beach that cost €150,000,000 to create
