This review is especially helpful for those who have or use the following: Assistance Dog - Visual, Wheelchair, Autism
Overview
A wheelchair accessible cinema with helpful and friendly staff. The toilets are clean with room for a wheelchair. There are space for wheelchairs to be placed so friends and families are able to sit together during the film. CEA cards can be requested for carers to enable them to visit the cinema for free. Restaurants located around the cinema, some with wheelchair access. Films are adapted for customers with hearing and visual impairments as well as making cinema experiences autism friendly.
Transport & Parking
There are numerous disabled parking spaces, close to the entrance creating easy access for customers. The paths to the venue and around the carpark are very flat which is easy for wheelchair users and visually impairment customers.
Access
Wheelchair friendly (ish), tricky to hold both doors open and control wheelchair. There are only a few steps in the cinema but there are ramps so that is not a problem. Wheelchair areas in each screening to ensure wheelchair users can sit with family/friends. The ticket machines are a little high for wheelchair users to access but you can purchase tickets from the main desk where cinema employees serve you.
Toilets
Disabled toilet located at each side of the cinema. They are on the lower level of the two, meaning you could potentially need to use the ramp, this is something to bare in mind if you need assistance. 'In case of emergency' red cord within reach from the disabled toilet, grab rails placed correctly within the area around the toilet for stability. Enough room to move wheelchair around, as well as enough room for carer as well (if needed). Toilets reasonably clean and tidy.
Staff
Cineworld staff are extremely helpful, more than happy to provide assistance when requested. If food and drink are purchased staff will carry it to your seats.
Anything else you wish to tell us?
I would recommend Cineworld Wakefield, I will definitely be visiting again. I especially like that the cinema provided alternative cinema experiences for everyone, offering audio description screenings for visually impaired customers, subtitled films for hearing impaired customers. As well as autism friendly films where the lights are kept on low, the sound is kept on low and there are no advertisements.
