Overview
I've tried to visit this a few times before but there are always massive queues. This time we made a determined effort to get there as soon as the doors opened! You can visit at your own pace with an informative audio guide and you could spend hours and hours learning about what went on there during WW2.
Transport & Parking
We were staying in Southbank so it was a walk/wheel to Westminster and then the Churchill War Rooms are just round the corner. Westminster is an accessible tube station with the Jubilee line. There is plenty of public transport nearby. There are also plenty of tourists so sometimes you can't get about as quickly as you would wish!
Access
Great accessibility - lift whisks you right to the start and from there is all level access. The corridors and corners are fairly tight thought and there were a couple of 'arms in' moments and you might have to slalom other visitors! Overall what they've done re wheelchair accessibility is great. Displays are at sensible heights - and we felt that we could see and/or interact with all the exhibits.
Toilets
The main accessible loo was well signposted but we didn't check it out.
Staff
Very helpful - got a complimentary carers ticket without having to ask - explained how headsets worked too.
Anything else you wish to tell us?
Wish we could have spent longer there!! Very very interesting - definitely visit if you get a chance. Impressed with how accessible it was - don't think there was anything we couldn't see or do.
