Overview
Edinburgh Christmas market is located on princes street gardens near Edinburgh Waverley Train Station. The market is spread over 3 levels in the gardens. There is a very steep slope to reach the lower level. This can be avoided by using the lift in the National Galleries at the top of princes street. This alternative is only available during the day. The stalls on the lower levels are similar to those on the top so if you are unable to get the lower levels panic not! 😉
Transport & Parking
I traveled from Fairlie to Edinburgh by train and the market itself is a five minute walk from the station. I booked assistance in advance for help with the ramps on the train. This help was provided but I didn’t get the luggage assistance which I also booked until we got back to Glasgow. This made the journey more challenging.
Access
The pathways within the market were fairly flat. As I said the market is over 3 levels so it can be quite difficult to access the lower levels unless you can access the lift in the National Galleries. To my knowledge I don’t think the fairground rides are accessible to wheelchairs. Also the market itself was not very well signposted.
Toilets
Accessible toilet is located within a portacabin to the side of the market. It had plenty of space inside however the emergency cord was tied up
Staff
Everyone was in the Christmas spirit
