Overview
If you're looking for an accessible cafe and just a sweet treat and a cuppa, this is the place for you. The café was opened recently following a tasteful and accessible refurbishment.
Transport & Parking
I walked to the venue as I live locally. There is a pay and display car park with accessible bays near to the town centre next to Morrisons supermarket. The cobbles also offer car parking but are limited to 2 hours and are not wheelchair friendly. There is no train station in Barnard Castle but buses do run regularly and pass outside the shop/café.
Access
There are two doors both step free. One door would fit a wheelchair through. The other would fit a small walking aid through. You have to order in the chocolate shop area which is fully accessible
Toilets
There is an accessible toilet with grab rails and enough space to manoeuvre. It's not a changing places toilet. It's clean and tidy and reached by passing through the shop part of the venue.
Staff
The staff are very helpful and if you need help with for example the door as it's not automated they're more than happy to help.
Anything else you wish to tell us?
Dogs are now allowed inside the cafe area as well as the external seated area to the rear of the venue. There is also a child's play area following on from the seated area.
