Some Areas Inaccessible
Visit date:
This review is especially helpful for those who have or use the following: Wheelchair
Overview
Some treatment rooms not accessible for wheelchairs. Waiting area has nowhere to 'park' so you are not in the way of other patients. 'Disabled' toilet cannot accommodate a chair, no grab rail on one side of toiletand door will not close with a self propelling standard sized chair inside
Transport & Parking
A few bays nearby which are on uneven ground with a lot of pot holes. Nearby Waitrose store only has a few wheelchair bays. Either way access is via a cobbled 'cut through' unless approaching from main road
Access
Power assisted doors. Some treatment rooms are not accessible in a chair. No room in waiting area where wheelchair patients can wait without impeding others
Toilets
Door does not close with a standard wheelchair inside. Door stiff and stuck so unable to open. Only one rail one side of toilet and no room to transfer from wheelchair
Staff
Reception staff helpful but others not interested when informed about lack of access. Practice manager suggested looking at another surgery when informed that the toilet door would not close when wheelchair is inside
Anything else you wish to tell us?
Disappointed with the response to being informed that the facilities were not accessible, not at all empathetic to the needs of a wheelchair user
