Wheelchair friendly museum and park

This review is especially helpful for those who have or use the following: Wheelchair
Overview
This is a museum set in beautiful grounds with good access for wheelchairs. There is a lift to the upper floor. The exhibits are well displayed to be accessible to all. There is room to get around all the exhibits. The only thing missing is somewhere to get a drink or a snack as there are no facilities for this, but you could bring a picnic and enjoy it on one of the many benches in the lovely landscaped grounds.
Transport & Parking
This is not far from the centre of town so I imagine you can get a bus very near to the museum. We travelled by car and found the car park had 4 disabled spaces. By the time we came out the car park was very full as this venue also hires rooms out. Please note that we saw parking tickets on two cars who had parked on the driveway rather than in allocated spaces.
Access
There is a gentle ramp from the car park, and the entrance to the museum has large plate glass automatic doors. Inside there is a smallish but adequate lift to the first floor.
Toilets
The toilet was on the ground floor and had plenty of space and grab rails.
Staff
There were 3 members of staff on reception and they were very interested in their own conversation. When we managed to attract their attention they did offer a pencil for the spotting guides which are on the left as you enter.. Similarly when we wanted to buy something from their limited gift shop on the way out we struggled to attract their attention. We also asked about one of the exhibits which wasn't working and was told there was an electrical fault with it. There seemed to be a fault with quite a few of the exhibits not working. A great pity.
Anything else you wish to tell us?
This is an interesting museum and we will come back again, but customer service is lacking.
