Overview
We were gifted an Afternoon Tea Experience for two at Chatsworth House. We cannot fault the staff who were fantastic, as was the afternoon tea - 5*. However, and I have seen it mentioned elsewhere, access to the stables area where the restaurant, shop etc is located was not all it could be for a wheelchair user and somewhat spoilt our day. The disabled parking entails parking the car on very rough aggregate/rubble surface which is difficult to push a wheelchair over and is then followed by slight uphill tarmac surface to a cobbled path into the stables. There it becomes difficult - pushing a manual wheelchair over this very very uneven large cobble path was extremely uncomfortable for my wife and her clonus was almost unbearable , so much so, we almost gave up. It really would be so easy for them just lay a 1 metre wide tarmac/level path alongside the original cobblestones for wheelchair users. There was a disabled toilet inside the Cavendish Restaurant but it was very, very small and only just manageable in a manual wheelchair although necessitated moving bins around. There is no way you could use a powered wheelchair in there. So staff and food 5* Access and Toilets 2*
