Overview
A cafe that is open to the public. With good value food. However. As it is in a shared building, you are required to buzz for entrance and sign in to the building. this could make you feel a bit uncomfortable if you are unused to the building. On the plus side the building offers a fully accessible changing bathroom and shower room with tracking hoist. And the majority of staff are disability aware as the building is shared with Scope.
Transport & Parking
There is a drop down kerb and drop off point immediately outside the building. However it is in high demand. particularly at 9:30 and 3:30 when lots of customers arrive for the day. There are 2 car parks, a bit bumpy but manageable in a wheelchair. There is also a bus stop about a minutes distance that comes from halifax bus he majority are very small buses though. and no seats at the bus stop
Access
There is a slope down to the building, with rails each side. You have to buzz to be entered into the building. The buzzer is a bit too high for everybody, particularly in a wheelchair, The reception is immediately opposite the doors and frequently manned so not often an issue. Reception and the hall to the cafe is large, easy to manage in a powered wheelchair. The toilets are not connected to the cafe. and the large disabled toilet is not sign posted.
Toilets
There is a Ladies toilets and a gents each with with several cubicles, these are not disability friendly. There is a small disabled toilet, with grab rails, but it would be difficult to manoeuvre a chair around in and is a squeeze to have a carer and a large chair. The second toilet is much better. very large. tracking hoist. changing bed. shower, toilet chair. toilet seats. only problem is the toilet door is a wide door, but the hallway door is standard door. the changing toilet can be in high demand when the building is busy.
Staff
Friendly staff. majority will do anything to help you. the kitchen is a training cafe, so a high level of disablity awareness.
