Wheelchair Access

Overview
Great wheelchair access but, as always I find, there could be improvement.
Transport & Parking
We came by car. Disabled Parking was as close as it was possible to get.
Access
Wheelchair access to the restaurant was great. Many of the tables had a awkward legs making sitting at the table in the wheelchair difficult, however the staff assisted with this and reseated us at a more accessible table and reserved it for us during the stay. The hotel access was card entry and worked well. The door to the room was exceptionally heavy. I do understand it was for fire regulations but my husband who is the wheelchair user, could not open it.
Toilets
My husband did not use the restaurant facilities. The hotel had a great wet room with plenty of hand rails. However there was nowhere to put thing’s except the floor. The access door was wide but difficult to close from inside. The light switch was at the outside hinge side of the door making that a challenge unless you had assistance.
Staff
The staff were outstanding. They did everything I could have asked for to make our stay pleasant.
Anything else you wish to tell us?
Covid precautions were scaled back. I would suggest sliding doors on the wet room, move the light switch to the other side and put grab rails adjacent to the bed in a Disabled access room. Fortunately I had brought a rota stand otherwise he would not have managed.
