Overview
There's a pretty pond, loos, parking and picnic area at this former quarry on the Wall. A short but steep track takes you up to the Wall trail. There and back outing was about a mile and a quarter - you need a sturdy set of motorised wheels and help if you get stuck going up the hill (I did!). Worth the effort for views and ruins.
Transport & Parking
Plenty of parking. Bit remote. Can't comment on public transport.
Access
Car park surface was loose chippings so not smooth to walk on or roll over. Path to pond was reasonable. However this leads to a kissing gate which I couldn't fit my wheelchair trike through! So had to reverse out (with help) and exit by a side gate (see photo) leading to farm track, then steep bridle way out onto fell. Ground after that quite bumpy - not all wheels would cope with this rugged terrain. Photos show.
Toilets
There was an accessible loo. Basic but had plenty of handrails. Grubby. Broken soap dispenser and broken hand dryer.
Staff
Not staffed.
Anything else you wish to tell us?
Don't attempt this with a manual wheelchair or without help. However it was lovely to get near to the Wall which is sadly inaccessible for the most part.
