Overview
*This was a one off event and these views may not reflect Carnoustie at all times* Signposting to the event was virtually nonexistent. We only found one wheelchair-accessible toilet which was located at the entrance of the course, while there were toilets at the far end of the course, there were no wheelchair-accessible toilets and a steward apologized for this. Overall though, apart from the appalling weather, it was a very good day out.
Transport & Parking
Like I said earlier, signposting to the event was nonexistent and as we were driving this was an issue. Parking was generally good, we took a big wheelchair accessible van and I thought a problem would arise with parking however no such problem did arise. We got parked fine and got the scooter out without a problem .
Access
Overall accessibility was fine and easy in and around the golf course, however having been to the Solheim Cup in 2019 at Gleneagles where there were wheelchair accsessile viewing platforms I was slightly disapointed to find out that there weren't any at this event. As I purchesed my tickets well in advance, they said they had worked hard to ensure that the venue is as accommodating as possible. They said the grandstand seating areas would have easily accessible sections intended for wheelchair users which was an outright lie as there were no wheelchair accessible sections.
Toilets
I only located 1 accessible loo which was just after I entered the course the only other toilets that I located were at the far end of the course and they were not accessible toilets which was very disappointing.
Staff
Staff was very helpful when needed with giving us directions to the accessible parking etc. A member of staff gave me a golf ball halfway around the course, he must've thought I was a golfer myself which put a smile on my face.
