Excellent for wheelchair users but some toilet problems to sort out
Visit date:
This review is especially helpful for those who have or use the following: Wheelchair, Powerchair, Mobility Scooter
Overview
A delightful Italian restaurant, perfect step-free access throughout, a lovely outdoor terrace, superb food, adorable staff, and a few toilet problems
Transport & Parking
This restaurant is a few hundred yards from South Quay Docklands Light Railway Station, which - like all DLR stations - is step-free from train to street.
Access
Step-free entrance, a spacious restaurant with plenty of room to manoeuvre, and a lovely outdoor terrace for visits during warmer weather.
Toilets
There is a spacious accessible toilet which could be so good if only these two problems could be sorted out: - There is a table in the wheelchair transfer area. See my picture below. This area is NOT storage space or space for furniture, it must be kept free of obstructions so that the wheelchair user can park next to the toilet and transfer sideways from the wheelchair to the toilet seat. - The red emergency cord does not hang all the way down to the floor. It is essential that is should reach all the way to the floor so that a wheelchair user can reach it in the event of falling over and needing to summon help. See my picture below. This toilet is the only thing which prevents the restaurant getting a five-star review in every cateogory!
Staff
The staff were helpful, courteous, friendly, charming and a joy to interact with. Top marks!
