Overview
Canongate Kirk is next door to the People's Story museum, so we took a quick look in. The main entrance has a single step and then it is level access within the church. The church is stunning. The church is usually open on Sunday afternoons after the service.
Transport & Parking
The church is on s road with a bus route that stops close by.
Access
There was an open gate into the churchyard, which had level, step free access from the road and the flooring is cobblestones. There is a single step up to the portico and main entrance to the church which was open. Once inside there is step free access. The website says that there is step free access via the east front door. In front of the gateway into the church are some benches.
Toilets
The website says there is an accessible toilet but I did not use it during my visit.
Staff
Stewards welcomed us into the chair and said goodbye when we were leaving.
Anything else you wish to tell us?
This was not a planned visit, we noticed it was open as we walked past. The interior is beautiful with its blue painted pews. Very glad we went inside and would be very happy to visit again.
