Overview
Cambridge Arts Theatre is located on Peas Hill, in the centre of Cambridge. Access is, on the whole, very good, and the theatre is accommodating towards people with various disabilities.
Transport & Parking
Parking is available nearby, either on street or in the Grand Arcade car park. There are 4 blue badge parking spaces immediately outside the theatre entrance on Peas Hill, 2 in Wheeler Street and 7 on King's Parade, all close to the theatre. Accessible buses are available into the city centre.
Access
There is level access to both entrances to the theatre, both of which also have automatic opening, operated by a push button at a suitable height for wheelchair users. Inside, there is access by lift to all floors. There are eight spaces reserved for wheelchair users in the stalls, approximately halfway back in the auditorium. The flooring in the stalls is sloped, and the thickness of the carpet may cause problems for some. There is an infra-red hearing enhancement system, and regular BSL, captioned, audio-described and relaxed performances. Assistance dogs are permitted on request.
Toilets
There are accessible toilets on each level. The ground-floor accessible toilet has a folding door, drop-down rails, emergency cord and space for side transfer. It is situated next to the ladies' toilet, which can lead to access problems when there are queues. It is not RADAR-key protected.
Staff
Staff are generally helpful, both at the box office and front of house.
Anything else you wish to tell us?
Mobility scooters are not permitted inside the building. Two house wheelchairs are available. Reduced prices for people with disabilities and one companion are often available - it's worth asking when booking tickets.
