Overview

This is my first time visiting it since it became Call Of The Wild and it’s been changed a lot since it was Tropical Wings. I’m a powerchair user and visited with my sister who uses walking sticks, and my parents. The car park is rocky so a bit uneven on foot and I did get jolted a bit in my powerchair by large loose rocks, however the entrance is right by the disabled parking area (which is large). You enter via a wooden gate/door after paying/scanning your ticket and the staff offered to come and open the door for us but my parents pushed it open for us. The floor is very stony and uneven when you first get in bur then you get to concrete pavement which is around most of the zoo. This is mainly smooth but there are a few areas where it’s uneven including by the squirrels where there is a little step in the pavement. All the animal enclosures are viewable from standing or sitting height. The gated door to where the wallabies, goats etc are is very heavy and the flooring is uneven in the double gated section. We visited the toilets by the butterflies but the disabled toilet here is very small and the toilets low. I hit my head on the toilet roll holder when transferring as it’s very tight in there. The toilet by the cafe area is much better, bigger and has a higher toilet. I’ll defiantly go to the one by the cafe next time instead. Staff were really nice, friendly and helpful.

Transport & Parking

3.5

We came by car. Huge car park but a bit unstable on foot due to stones and gravel

Access

3.5

All on the flat but some flooring is uneven and stony. Lots of benches throughout the zoo

Toilets

3.5

I found two accessible toilets. The one by the butterfly house was low and very small. There is a much bigger one with a higher toilet by the cafe. No changing places that I could see/find.
