Overview

Village resort with a Blue flag beach which is easily accessible to people in wheelchairs.

Transport & Parking

We had minibus taxis to and from the airport which were arranged through Thomson, however both times there weren't enough wheelchair tie down spaces as we had 4 people in wheelchairs with us, luckily two of them folded. Our luggage had to travel separately as there wasn't enough room. This was the only down point of the holiday. If you hired a car there was a car park opposite our hotel and close to the beach with disabled spaces.

Access

Practically every shop and and restaurant in the village had ramp access or was on a level, much better than the uk! The beach was accessed by a flat path and had a wheelchair walkway across the beach down to the sea, situated close by the lifeguards post, the Red Cross bay, a cafe and a couple of trees for beach shade. And the life guards always seemed to pop up to help when we needed to get on and off the beach. We were also able to borrow for free a beach wheelchair which was able to float out into the beautiful shallow bay.

Toilets

I didn't use any disabled toilets but I did see a sign for them by the Red Cross building.

Staff

Our hotel, Hotel Cala Galdana, had fantastic staff who were all friendly, happy and helpful. As did everywhere that we visited in the resort. It really was a pleasure to be there.

Anything else you wish to tell us?

We didn't have specifically disabled rooms, but we managed. The rooms had plenty of space although the bathroom would be a squeeze if using a wheelchair, access to the baths, in some rooms, was limited. There are other hotels in the resort that have accessible rooms. We hired a portable hoist from a company on the island, about £85 for a week, which the hotel staff delivered and picked up from our room. There was a fridge in our room for medicines and drinks. The food was fabulous, a massive buffet choice which was delicious and different every day. Something even for the fussiest eater.
