Overview
This is a part of and directly adjacent to the old Surgeons Hall and Museum on the upper South Bridge at Hunter Square, Edinburgh. It is on the southbound side opposite the Festival Theatre and the University of Edinburgh. It’s very popular not just because of the area and interests that surround it but the choice of and quality of its food. Everything is prepared and cooked in house, although they are open till 17.00, tray bakes, scones and foods go very, very quickly. The museum is medical and anatomical so not for those under 16 or of a nervous disposition. Everything is on one level as is access to the Museum and garden. It’s vibrant place during the Festival and is often a fringe venue. As said home produced food on a light lunch basis, choice of 2 soups, salads, baked pots, grains, meats........... just what the Doctor ordered !.
Transport & Parking
A very busy and congested part of the City, there are disabled spaces, pay bays and a car park that belongs to the Edinburgh Central Mosque in Hunter Square 50m across South Bridge Street. This is also a main bus route which links with buses to Midlothian and the Borders. There are 16 bus routes that pass this way.
Access
All on one level to and in the Cafe, to the Museum and the Garden. Signage to all areas.
Toilets
Did not use.
Staff
Very helpful, brought over a jug of iced water to customer during our lunch.
Anything else you wish to tell us?
Would recommend the Cafe, the Garden and only the Museum if your over 16 and not easily put of human exhibits.
