Overview

I have just bought a motorhome from Brownhills, so visited to buy, then collect and then to have some work done. If you buy from them, you become a member and have access to their overnight area and members club, which has a lovely swimming pool. There is a shop and a cafe on site, a huge showroom with a lounge and drinks area, and a lot of outdoor space.

Transport & Parking

4.5

Brownhills is just off the A1 and is very easy to find. They have a huge car park with some blue badge spaces. Unfortunately the dropped kerb from the car park to the main path is not very low and I couldn't get up it safely, so had to go round the long way.

Access

4

For the most part, they have tried to make everywhere accessible and have done a pretty good job. There is either level access or a gentle ramp into all buildings. The ramp up to the cafe though, is a bit steeper - manageable for me, but some might struggle. In the members building, there are several heavy doors and they are not that wide. Dogs are allowed in most areas but have to be kept on lead, however, the only way I could get my assistance dog safely though all the doors was to let her off lead. Thankfully, this didn't cause any problems. I went for a swim whilst I was there. It was the first time swimming since I got my assistance dog. There were no issues with her being there. It was lovely and quiet! Getting into the pool was fine for me - big wide steps with a sturdy hand rail. I don't think they have a hoist though. Also, there's no liefguard, so you cannot swim alone. There has to be at least 2 adults present.

Toilets

3

There is one good accessible toilet in the main showroom. The cafe has toilets but not an accessible one. There is an accessible toilet and shower in the members area but it is inside the main toilets, so you have to know it's there. The toilet in there was good but the shower didn't have any grab rails - it was just a bit bigger than the others.

This is where Brownhills really excel! They are all friendly, helpful, polite, etc.
