Overview
Selected this hotel as this was one of the few in the area that offers single beds - single beds are helpful with some of the equipment that my husband uses to stay comfortable at night. To be honest, the hotel made no claims to be more accessible than legally required but just so it is on the public record - there are steps, doorsills, and heavy manual doors everywhere. We left my husband's scooter and wheelchair in the car because there was no point in getting them out. I believe that there is a portable ramp that can be fetched if required but that would mean that any sense of independence would be lost because you would have to be accompanied from the door of your room to the front door of the hotel because if you need to traverse the courtyard - which most guests seem to need to do, then you need to be helped out and then helped back in again. There are two parking spaces at the front of the hotel which are marked as disabled spaces but they are not wide enough to enable passengers in both cars to open the car doors fully.
Transport & Parking
We travelled by car. There are two parking spaces marked as for disabled use but they are not wide enough. If two cars with disabled occupants are parked then someone is going to struggle to get in and out of their vehicle
Access
My husband can walk but not very far. To use this hotel with any degree of independence you need to be able to walk. There are steps and heavy doors everywhere. The hotel is built around a courtyard and every entrance into the courtyard has at least one step. I think there was an attempt at a ramp up to one door but it was approached by a very narrow path and any wheelchair would have at least one set of wheels on the grass. The ramp itself, comprising some kind of stone slab, was also not securely fixed and moved quite significantly depending on where you put your weight. I believe that there is a portable ramp which you can ask for but that would really only work if you were a wedding guest or similar i.e. not staying in the accommodation.
Toilets
We were staying in the hotel and did not have to use public loos
Staff
Staff were fine but very thin on the ground
