Overview

Went to a show to see the mountain Goats. Booked my ticked via a third party app, then joined the accessibility rotar. Had to cancel tickets and book direct so that I could get accessible tickets but luckily there was some left. I arrived in the afternoon before hand to test out the journey from the bus stops in center up the hill. Far too steep to do, don't be like me, book a taxi. Took a lift up to reception on the Ground floor, one of three lifts. Don't know what it is about them, but the lifts were significantly hotter than any part of the building. Asked reception if I could be shown around so I could familiarise myself with what direction I needed to go in, what floor I needed to enter at, and what bridge I'd need to enter through. Managed to get a partial tour up to the bridge, but there were sound checks, so wasn't able to practice the whole stretch. Asked about the kind of seating, was told that it was space aside a seat, and I could transfer if I wanted. I didn't have a seat number, but was told that there would be reserved signs with our names on the chair. Came back for the show around opening hour, used the lift to get to the first floor, and queued up at bridge b. Another guest using a cane was able to ask for a chair to sit down, luckily there was one available. All went well, scanned our ticket and sat down. The view was brilliant, and unobstructed. The chairs could definitely use some work. They are the same chairs as everywhere else, folding with arm rests. There was a banister Infront of the seats you could use to hold onto to transfer. Unfortunately, the seat wouldn't stay unfolded, and the arm rests couldn't be lifted out the way, so it was tricky to transfer on. There was the option to stay in your chair. Past the bridge, the accessible toilets are on the left hand side going towards the stage. Unfortunately it didn't have any soap in, and was occupied the first time I needed it, other than that, everything looked in order. I went to travel to the other accessible toilet across the bridge to the right, but it was out of order. There are only two total accessible toilets on the first floor. Ordered at the lower bar end, on very left. Ordered a half pint of cider into a full pint glass, to avoid spillage. The cups were reusable and sturdy enough to put pressure on them and hold them between your legs. All in all had a great evening. My advice: - Ask questions at the ticket booth - Take a taxi up the hill - if you are not sure where things are, everyone is happy to help - Take hand sanitizer with you - Bring a friend or family to hold down the seat if you want to transfer.
