Overview
Flew out using Special Assistance at Bristol Airport on 12/5/24. The desk is just inside main departure entrance to your left. Very helpful & jolly chap on desk, seating & wheelchairs available, but I took my own manual chair for 1st time, no problems. Young lady who assisted me (?Niamh?) was lovely, chatty & friendly, saw me through to special assistance seating area. Chirpy people on Ambu-Lift too, but come on OCS, at least deep clean it or replace it! It's rusty, dirty, ripped seating, dirty windows etc the list goes on! Can't fault service or staff (but more required!), but equipment, yucky!
Transport & Parking
We used Arrow Cars taxi - contracted to the airport, so they are the only taxi company allowed through the airport barrier to drop right outside departures. Bit expensive though, but otherwise it'll be a bit of a walk from drop-off zone! Hard to do for me, especially when you've got 2 suitcases and a wheelchair to take!
Access
Level surfaces and lift to security and departures on 1st floor. Alternatively, there's steps or escalator.
Toilets
Good, accessible loo's with grab rails, red pull cord & room to manoeuvre or carer. However, on arrival back to Bristol on 26/5/24 in Baggage Reclaim area, due to the normal Gents being closed for work, everyone off those flights must've used the 1st disabled loo & it was very dirty, pee on floor which I reported. Also a female member of airport staff tried to jump in front of me as I was getting up out of wheelchair! I soon let her know that it was me next!! 🤬😡
Staff
Special Assistance staff very nice & helpful.
