Overview
A really amazing afternoon at the airport with a superb member of the Security Team called Ana. We sent in our proof of tickets, and passports, in advance so we would have airport clearance. We were able to practice everything from arrival at the airport, through departures and security, boarding the plane, arriving home and going through customs. We even got to visit the sensory room. It was a really valuable experience.
Transport & Parking
Today, for the tour, we parked in the drop-off short stay carpark as they were covering the cost of the parking. For our holiday we will be using the drop off again to deliver the cases as a reasonable adjustment and then parking in silver zone parking and getting the bus to the terminal.
Access
The airport is fully accessible. The assistance desk is located just inside the departures door on the left side. This has a seating area and also where you can collect wheelchairs and sunflower lanyards from. There is another assistance desk after you’ve gone through security just through duty free. There is a quiet route avoiding duty free if required. There is also a sunflower route through customs on arrival back to Bristol.
Toilets
There are multiple accessible toilets as well as a changing places toilet.
Staff
We met staff all throughout the airport and everyone greeted us with a smile and helped answer any questions or concerns we had. Everyone was brilliant and really well trained in helping people with disabilities.
