Overview
We keep coming back! It's a fantastic garden, beautifully maintained and with a plant lovers range of plants. Surprisingly for a garden on a hillside site, it's got good access. The staff have thought carefully about access and have an informative accessibility guide: https://www.nts.org.uk/accessibility/branklyn-garden-accessibility-guide . Parking spaces are immediately outside the gate. The walkways are wide and with a firm enough surface for wheelchairs/rollators. The only downside is the steps into the tea shop so this is really a fair weather venue only.
Transport & Parking
By car, two parking spaces immediately outside the gate and prompt welcome from staff when we arrive. It's probably best avoiding peak times, we have never yet had a problem.
Access
The site reflects their own access guide. Much of the garden is accessible with a rugged rollator or wheelchair. With "urban" mobility aids we still managed to visit much of the garden. We were able to get into the shop and move around comfortably. Plenty of seats in different parts of the garden to take a rest or admire the plants. We use the garden seating area as with wheels we are unable to climb the steps into the cafe. This makes the garden a fair weather venue for us...but then it is a garden and we want to sit in it.
Toilets
Clean and spacious toilet accessible by a gently sloping ramp. Grab rails and room to move around. No changing places toilet.
Staff
Thoughtful, friendly and very willing to assist without being intrusive. We liked the fact that they are happy to decant soup into cups to make it easier to drink. We also like the scones made on site.
