Overview

Delightful park with flower beds, lawns, small aviary, rock garden, mini golf and bandstand. Lower Gardens are adjacent to the Bournemouth Observation Wheel, Pier and sea front. Some of it is flat but with a steepish slope in places. Busy but also peaceful and relaxing. Very well maintained gardens.

Transport & Parking

There are many buses that stop close by. If you are going by bus you may want to check the location of the bus stops on google street view as Bournemouth is very hilly.

Access

The spacious gardens lead from the shopping area to the pier. Quite a lot of it is on the flat by towards Westover Road the paths slope upwards, quite short but with a noticeable incline. In one part there were steps with hand rails on both sides which may be a preferred option for some people. There are benches with back support and arms rests throughout the park. There are a number of cafes and kiosks in the park. I did a separate review for Picnic Park Deli, which I visited.

Toilets

The website says that there is an accessible toilet opened by a radar key in the park. However, I did not notice this when I walked through.

Staff

I didn't see any staff. However the gardens are beautifully maintained.

Anything else you wish to tell us?

The park has a bandstand and a performance took place during the early afternoon on the day I visited. They played popular tunes, musical numbers, etc. It was a lovely surprise to stumble across it. Bournemouth is famous for its beautiful gardens and the Lower Gardens are well worth visiting.
