Overview
As the name suggests the train station is in North Blackpool it is a busy station with train leaving to a range of places including Manchester and Manchester Airport as well as to places like York. There are 7 platforms in total there are information boards as you enter the tell you what train is leaving from each platform. There is an automatic ticket collection machine on the right as you enter the station and a ticket office on the left and side. There are automated barriers to pass through before you enter the main station area as is the case in most station around the country. There are two shops one before the ticket barrier and a second one inside the ticket barrier. There are doors to each platform these are controlled by staff in the station and are only opened once the train is ready. Assistance will be available if you have booked it in the normal advanced way.
Transport & Parking
We took a Taxi to the station and there is a Taxi rank outside the main building if you arrive at this station and need a Taxi. We did not see any Blue badge parking in the area next to the station however there are car parks near station if the signage was anything to go by
Access
A good station with level access throughout to all platforms, There are two gate assistance points for people in wheelchairs or who have walking problems. There is one to let you enter the station and one as you exit the station . Each platform is clearly marked and there are boards at each platform door that tell you the destination of the train as well as all the stops it will make. There are a limited number of seats available at the entrance to each platform
Toilets
There are ladies and gents toilets available there was a notice next to the ladies that said a wheelchair toilet was available to ask staff?.
Staff
The station was busy and the staff were doing what they could to keep people moving to the right platforms as well as getting people back out of the station its self
Anything else you wish to tell us?
We found no indication of the wheelchair accessible toilet and due to time issues did not ask the staff. think this is strange in this day and age that the location is not given
