Overview
SAT NAV. OX26 6WD. BICESTER VILLAGE OUTLETS. This is a great half day out, top class shopping, very nice restaurants for coffee, or lunch, easy for disabled to move around, and just a delightful experience. TO EXPERIENCE HOW GREAT A DAY OUT, READ OUR OTHER REVIEW AS WELL. When we arrived at the village we were shocked to see that there were hundreds here, the main car park was already full, and we were directed to follow directions of parking teams that seemed to take us miles away from the shops to finally reach a car park and asked to park on the top floor. It certainly had plenty of bays, but did not see disabled spots, a bit discouraging (photo 1) but over at the front end you arrive at a lift (photo 2) and a very short walk immediately took us into the village shops (photo 3) and it was such a delightful surprise after all our worry about how far away we may be, but it’s right there, straight in, great. (Photo 4) This approach gets you to the very start of the shopping street (photo 5) and you can then go the full length of the shopping outlets, you can see every single shop if you want to, and it’s such a lovely place, so clean, so tidy, so well laid out, so easy to get your wheelchair wherever you like to go (photo 6) so let’s get started. There are flower tubs filled to the brim with colour and interesting designs for the tubs (photo 7) every corner is well laid out with lots of space (photo 8) and there’s outdoor seating available, with corners holding lots to do for the kids (photo 9) such as climbing frames, swings and such like, you can just take a seat and enjoy a cup of coffee, knowing the kids are quite safe to play and have a great time. What we also like is that there are plenty of toilets available, in fact there are seven different toilet blocks available, scattered throughout the outlets, all different, and all very attractively laid out (photo 10) very clean, well maintained and disabled doorways wide enough to get your chair inside (photo 11) with lots of room in the toilet with grab rails and pull cords (photo 12) You know what, it’s interesting enough to just check out each toilet block to see what they are like, how sad, that one pleasure we enjoy is looking at toilets ! Right, let’s get the shopping out of the way (photo 13) and find somewhere to eat, and you can chose to eat from one of the many stalls you will find throughout the shopping area (photo 14) and settle down on an outdoor seating area, ideal on a warm sunny day, or find a pleasant restaurant, and we found a Chinese, our favourite type of restaurant (photo 15). It’s August now, and it’s full, but diners are in and out, so a very short wait and a seat will quickly become available, you cannot book in advance, just turn up, and enjoy, you will be taken to a table by friendly staff (photo 16) in a nicely laid out, decorated pleasant restaurant (photo 17) and enjoy with us a reasonable selection of Chinese dishes, washed down with a cool drink, what more can you ask for (photo 18). OUR FINAL THOUGHTS This was our second visit and we were not disappointed, it was as good and exciting as our first visit. If it seems full of many cars don’t be put off, because although it looks crowded with many people, you are not squashed, and can easily move around. But it truly is a delightful village to visit. It’s top class well known famous Bond Street expensive outlets, of which we cannot personally afford to buy, but we love popping into one or two stores and pretend to be important, before discreetly moving away, we love it. DO READ OUR OTHER REVIEWS AS WELL, THIS IS THE PLACE YOU NEED TO VISIT. A third review is on its way, with advice about parking for you, to make life easier.
Transport & Parking
Very good parking, lots of spaces with disabled bays available, but it can be very busy, and on this trip we were parked what we thought would be miles away, having been directed away from main car park, and round to the back somewhere, but what a pleasant surprise to find, that having come down from top level of car park on a lift, we were actually very very close to the start of the shopping street, ideal for wheelchair users.
Access
It’s all on the flat, chairs can move around in comfort, even when it’s packed with fellow excited shoppers.
Toilets
There’s lots of them, all very clean and tidy, chairs can get in and out, and you have seven large toilet blocks you can use.
Staff
All well trained, pleasant and helpful.
