Overview
I called in advance to check accessibility before booking. I don't think the member of staff understood me as she said that a wheelchair was fine....... but things didn't turn out like that.
Transport & Parking
Taxi could drop us off right outside. I think the nearest bus stop is possibly Lothian Road.
Access
Two high steps at entrance and no sign of a ramp. Staff were anxious to help but I ended up having to clamber up the steps while others lifted the scooter in.
Toilets
Loo is down a full flight of stairs at the back of the restaurant. There is a full banister on the left as you go down. You then walk about 20 feet to the ladies (I don't remember there being a specific accessible loo but I may be wrong), up another step and through a very heavy door. I'm not too proud to say I was nearly crying by the time I got there.
Staff
The staff were friendly and very helpful. I think the problem during the phone call to check accessibility was genuinely a language barrier issue.
Anything else you wish to tell us?
The restaurant floor is extremely slippery - honestly you'd think it had been greased. They have tried to sort the problem by putting mats down, but unfortunately for me that's just more trip hazards! There was a big range of food - not just sushi and sashimi but lots of other Japanese (and some Chinese) dishes. Standard was good - such a shame I won't be back because of the inaccessibility.
