Overview
We arrived at Ben Gurion Airport in the early hours, a large but accessible airport from aircraft to arrival lounge, passport control, baggage claim and exit. The airport staff could not have been more welcoming and friendly and recognised we were there for the Football. Our return journey was just as welcoming, probably more so given the score. The provision of foods from the various cafes was more than enough, the duty free lounge vast and well stocked. The airport terminal is in a starfish design and on each arm their are changing rooms and disabled toilets fully equipped at the beginning of each arm, this is also the case in the area of the departure gates.
Transport & Parking
Can’t fault anything here at all a large spacious airport, not cramped and with clean and regularly serviced facilities. Our transfers there and back were faultless. There appeared to be excellent car hire and parking facilities for those who could drive non and mobility adaptive vehicles. Bus and train service connected to the airport all within short distance, there was mobility assistance available given the ramping throughout the airport..
Access
Signage excellent as with most major airports, no lifts all ramp access,
Toilets
All the loos equipped the same and uniform size for wheelchairs and Carers,
Staff
Very welcoming - a smile can say a thousand words if can’t speak Hebrew. On hand and very helpful, especially through security.
Anything else you wish to tell us?
It’s the main airport for Israel so the right feel and welcome for the Country you are entering, then departing could not fault them. Their security in and out of the Country is more detailed and lengthy than ours, but one can understand why. Although we were there to witness another Scotland defeat, the people, the Country and Cultures fantastic.
