Overview
Belle Époque is French patisserie, serving elegant pastries. They have two cafes and this is the review for the one in Newington Green. Access is with one step and no accessible toilet.
Transport & Parking
I travelled on bus. There are several bus routes that stop close by and serve Newington Green. The nearest station is Canonbury on the Overground, and the station's website says that there is step free access from the concourse to the platform via a lift and there is Turn-up-and-go assistance, which does not have to be pre-booked.
Access
The café is on the square and looks onto Newington Green gardens, it is not inside the gardens. There are three tables on the pavement outside of the café with step free access, with no hand rail. There is a single step, see photo, into the café. There is a counter at standing height and a low, glass fronted chiller cake counter. There are free standing tables and chairs. There is also an additional seating area at the back which is accessible by three steps with no hand rail. I did not explore this area.
Toilets
None. However, there is a public accessible toilet inside Newington Green gardens, which I haven't used.
Staff
The staff were lovely, friendly and helpful. The waiter brought my food and drink to the table.
Anything else you wish to tell us?
Very pleasant experience, excellent food and service. The cakes are amazing. Be warned look in the glass fronted chiller counter and on top of the main counter before ordering your cake as you will find yourself spoilt for choice and might find yourself changing your mind several times. However, that's a good good excuse for a return visit.
