Overview

First visit to Belfast Airport, found the staff very friendly and helpful. Car hire companies in the airport are: Avis, Budget, Enterprise/National/Alamo, Europcar and Hertz not one of them offer a wheelchair accessible vehicle (WAV) for hire. Changing Places Toilet at departures ONLY.

Transport & Parking

What lets down the airport in my opinion is the car hire companies. Big names at the airport, Avis, Budget, Enterprise/National/Alamo, Europcar and Hertz and not one offer WAV hire for wheelchair users. We got picked up and dropped off so didn't see what other transport options were like.

Access

Access around the airport was very good apart from in the departures restaurants where we visited, access was very tight for a power wheelchair. Not much room between the tables and chairs to move around.

Toilets

I asked about a Changing Places Toilet and was told that the signage wasn't put up yet that was the reason it wasn't registered with CPs. I managed to find the toilet, a lovely size toilet and had everything you expect to see in a CP toilet. The only down side was it was in departures so no access to visitors to the airport and passengers arriving into BFS could not access the toilet.

Staff

All the staff we had contact with were very friendly and polite. For me the OCS teams were FIRST CLASS with the Eagle Lifter. I might add Belfast International Airport is the only airport on the island of Ireland with an Eagle Lifter. I had two men on the inbound flight and a lady and a man on the outbound flight, both teams done OCS proud.
