Overview

THE FARM SHOP of the midlands for us, (5*) Top Quality food, very clean, lots of room to move about (5*) a pleasant cafe with good drink selection (5*) and a busy, happy restaurant (4*) able to accommodate scooter user (4*). The entrance into shop is easy enough but you do have to push a double door to get in (4*) with an excellent selection of freshly packed fruits (4*) just before entering, (photo 1) of good top quality and nicely displayed, very appealing and good prices. (4*). Inside shop you enter an open spaced area (photo 2) with top quality fruit and veg very nicely displayed, very appealing and again good prices (5*). (Photo 3). It is easy to move around the spotlessly clean floor area (4*) with high quality food on offer, and if you like fresh, crusty bread, you are in, with an excellent choice in bread, rolls and cakes (5*). (photo 4). These are baked on the premises (photo 5) so you are guaranteed fresh bread. The gift department ( photo 6) is interesting to look at, and they also sell cards. This leads you into deli department ( photo 7) nicely laid out and looking appetizing, then they have so much choice in cheeses ( photo 8) again laid out to look appealing. Continuing on in deli section, there are pies of all sorts ( photo 9 ) samosas, bhajis, spring rolls etc, and so much selections of jars of sauces, oils to accompany the food. Then to the check outs, with plenty of them ( photo 10 ) so you do not have to queue, and staff that are very pleasant and cheerful. After shopping they have a very nice little cafe ( photo 11) with push doors to get in, and no steps, it’s all on the level. However, the main entrance has two doorways to get in, and that can prove difficult to push open (2*) . You approach a small but always clean service counter (4*) with a good selection of snacks and drinks ( photo 12) but it’s always full as so popular, with many tables, so it is a bit of a squeeze with wheelchair, we doubt a scooter would get in though. We found a quite table in the corner to enjoy a very nice cup of hot coffee (photo 13 ) in an area of a happy atmosphere. This leads now to the restaurant ( photo14) where they can accommodate on the level area, scooters as well as wheelchairs (4*) The restaurant is always busy and happy, with a very good menu, breakfast is popular. Toilets are on the level, with double doors to push ( photo 16 ) leading to disabled toilet which is key operated ( photo 17 ) which you pick up from restaurant. It’s not a big area to turn around in, but it’s spotlessly clean, with lots of grab rails (photo 18). Our final words. If you want good decent food at reasonable costs, fresh and well presented, freshly baked bread, and a good variety of other foods, then this has to become your number one shop, and the happy staff reflect that fact, so please do visit this farm shop. Remember however, there are little niggly parts of shop that has lowered our marks as it can prove difficult at times for disabled, but if like myself, you can get out of chair or off scooter, and manage a few steps , then you will like this farm shop as much as we do.

Transport & Parking

4

Lots and lots of bays, but disabled bays limited and always busy, but right by entrance and exit doors.

Access

4

To enter shop, once past double push doors, it is very easy to get around, always level, and plenty of width, space, not packed with goods on offer. The only reason we have not given 5* is that the cafe is always busy, because of the quality of food and drinks on offer, and there is not much room in there, but we personally have always found a spot to be able to park wheelchair, and enjoy the experience.

Toilets

2

Disabled toilet is through a push double door close to cafe and separate restaurant, Safe, as it’s key operated, but a bit small, you may or may not be able to spin your wheelchair, we doubt very much a scooter could cope, and I am grateful I can get off my wheelchair, we leave scooter at home. It was spotlessly clean, we have never found it other than this, and a number of grab rails to help. You and a career would struggle though to make use of toilet together.

Staff

5

Throughout the shop, we only encounter happy staff members, who are very willing to help, to serve you quickly, and make sure you get what you want. The management must care very much on how they treat their staff.
